Pivotel and CIN recognised at the NSW iAwards for Rapidly deployable Large Area WiFi solution
Pivotel, a leading telecommunications provider of critical communication solutions for regional, rural and remote Australia and the Connectivity Innovation Network (CIN) have been recognised as Merit Recipients for the pilot Large Area WiFi project in the Technology Platform category at the NSW iAwards.
The Large Area WiFi solution is designed to connect up to 100 users to reliable ubiquitous voice and data connectivity across an area of up to two square kilometres, when unforeseen events render traditional communication services unavailable. Utilising satellite backhaul and a standalone power system, the rapidly deployable network can operate wherever it is required, including during emergency situations. As an example, it could be rolled out in Northern Australia, where floods, cyclones and bushfires endanger residents, or implemented as a permanent service in rural and remote locations that have typically struggled to obtain connectivity equivalent to that of their city-based counterparts.
As Pivotel understands that each organisation has its own set of diverse requirements, the state-of-the-art solution is available in various form factors, including in transportable cases, installed in vehicles or on specialised trailers, and can be obtained via outright purchase or as an asset as a service. Opting for the asset as a service option allows organisations to leverage Pivotel's extensive and collective expertise in managing not only the hardware and its deployment but also the ongoing operation of the network. This approach ensures that organisations can reap the benefit of connectivity without the need to expand their workforce and invest in specialised expertise.
Speaking after the event, Darren Cooley, Sales Director at Pivotel, said, “This award is the cumulation of 18 months analysis, community engagement, research, testing and collaboration between Industry, Government and Universities. Throughout this project we’ve learnt that whilst customers can easily procure, setup and use LEO services like Starlink in some use cases, many need managed services that allow non-technical users or teams to remain connected while operating within a wider area. As a result, we’ve bolstered our resources so that the Pivotel team can provide complete connectivity services to our customers allowing them to focus solely on their core operations.”
