QLD based telco awarded best technology innovation and declared one of Australia’s Most Innovative Companies
Mobile satellite communications company, Pivotel, has been awarded the best technology innovation and listed among the Australian Financial Review’s Most Innovative Companies for its custom-built mobile network named ecoSphere®.
ecoSphere® by Pivotel is an Australian-first bespoke technology solution which fills the communication coverage gap for those left behind by major mobile Telcos.
Pivotel CEO Peter Bolger said the award is recognition of the culture of innovation that has existed within Pivotel since the company’s early days.
“Each year, the AFR’s Most Innovative Companies list identifies some of Australia and New Zealand’s most forward-thinking organisations solving real word problems with revolutionary ideas and Pivotel is honoured to be a part of that list this year,” Mr Bolger said.
ecoSphere® by Pivotel offers long range, secure point-to-point voice, data, tracking and monitoring connections to assets across rural properties such as gates, pumps and machinery as well as employees using a custom-built mobile network.
“We’re very proud of ecoSphere®, a project which is highly collaborative. Our agricultural projects being delivered as part of the WA Government’s DPIRD Digital Farm initiative demonstrate what is possible when companies such as Pivotel come together with farmers, grower groups and government departments to enable new technology and farming systems.
“We created ecoSphere® to support Australia’s 85,681 farm businesses and 405 operating mine sites.
“ecoSphere® is making satellite based Internet of Things simpler and cheaper for farmers while also bringing the benefits of 4G mobile coverage to areas that have been left without a reliable cellular connection.”
Pivotel continues to experience exciting growth and recently announced the acquisition of two US-based mobile satellite solution businesses, MVS USA Inc. and Explorer Satellite Communications Inc., significantly increasing its scale in North America and opening new markets in Latin America and Europe.
The double acquisition is expected to result in an annual revenue jump of 50 percent to AUD$120M in the 2019/2020 financial year.
“To be formally recognised by the AFR Most Innovative Companies award for our work in advancing communication and technology for rural areas of Australia is a true honour. From here, it is our intention to continue to deliver innovative product solutions and high- quality customer service while growing the business both domestically and internationally,” Mr Bolger said.
